Tiki Friday Bonus….Mariana…

It’s at 50 Sand Island Access Road in Honolulu, but good luck finding it! Just in case you get lost the number is 808-848-2800. La Mariana is like stepping into the 1950’s and there is a reason for that. The owner Annette Nahinu (who is usually sitting somewhere near the bar) . La Mariana Sailing Club is the result of more than 50 years of haphazard decorating that mainly came as the other tiki bars went out of business and Annette bought their decor. Probably the main reason La Mariana is still in business is because it is an actual Marina. Word has it that the whole thing only exists as long as Annette does (She’s in her late 80’s now) so you will probably want to visit as soon as you can. Pictures can’t do it justice, the drinks aren’t that great, the food is so so, and by itself, most of the stuff in it wouldn’t make a very impressive garage sale…but the thing is…it works.
