Ben is fifty-two, runs a print shop, and has never done anything particularly remarkable. Then his building collapses and he wakes up somewhere that is definitely not Portland, Maine. Or anywhere on the map he recognizes.
What follows is forty-seven chapters of societal breakdown, unlikely alliances, spiritual reckoning, and the deeply uncomfortable question at the center of everything: is humanity actually worth saving?
Written in 2004 at the end of the first Bush term, rewritten in 2020 at the end of the last one. The apocalypse kept being relevant.
