Sunday in Hawaii, Trees, snot, stars, canoes, and Superheroes

Grossology

Had a very nice weekend and found some great things to let Hawaiichicken readers know about.

Saturday evening we had dinner at a GREAT Indian restaurant in Waikiki. India Cafe. The samosa’s were great, the spicy shrimp sambal was spicy and delicious, the dosai were amazing, and really everything was great. Tiny place, great service, great food, and totally reasonable pricing.

After that we saw a production of “Sylvia” at the Yellow Brick Studio. It was cute. The Actors Guild (TAG) does a fair number of productions that are small and enjoyable. Which actually reminds me that last weekend we went to the Diamond Head Theatre and saw our friend Melissa performing in “Into the Woods.” Melissa only had a small part at the end as Sleeping Beauty, but the whole production was enjoyable. I admit to loving musicals.

Sunday, we paid a visit to Foster Botanical Gardens, very nice to be amongst huge trees and interesting tropical plants. After that we went to The Bishop Museum where we laughed our way through the totally gross Grossology exhibit, tripped our way through the interactive Science of Hawaii, and laid back in the planetarium to watch a great program about the star navigation of the early Polynesian voyagers.

We wrapped up the weekend with a movie at Koolau Stadium. It was “My Super Ex-Girlfriend”. Could be the romantic comedy hit of the summer.
in Kaneohe.
I realize you can’t have the same weekend we had because different shows will be running. But all the links above are a great way to figure out how to have a great time.
