The Nuns of Baboob. An offensive novel by CD Damitio. Available for Pre-Order on Kindle.

Posted on December 17, 2022 by CD

My inappropriate and offensive novel The Nuns of Baboob is now available for pre-order on Amazon.com. It is the story of a pig of a man, called Pig (among other things) who goes on a comical journey to a far off land that most people have never heard of.

This is near total rewrite. I wrote this book more than a decade ago under a different title that was stupidly offensive. Aside from some copies that I gave to friends, it never reached an audience for which I am grateful. I made some terrible mistakes in it – in terms of what I thought was funny, grammar, plotting, content, and the title itself. I’ve attempted here to rectify some of those errors – but it is still a flawed work. The main problem with the original to a greater extent and this version to a lesser extent was that the things I found funny or absurd at the time have become obviously not funny. In some cases they are deeply offensive. I am grateful that I have grown as a person and as a writer to be able to see that. I only wish that I had recognized it sooner. To anyone who read or was offended by the original, I offer my sincere apologies.

There is a certain joy that I find in pushing the limits of what is acceptable but in re-reading the original version of this book, it became clear very quickly that I had gone way too far. Make no mistake, this novel is still offensive on several levels. There is no shortage of inappropriate language, the characters have issues, and the overall theme itself will probably be considered a bad lapse in judgment by most who read it. There are certainly those who would and will tell me to unpublish it, hide it, bury it, and pretend I never wrote it. I won’t do that. It would be impossible to write a novel about a man who is obsessed with sexy nuns without making it offensive. In The Nuns of Baboob, I’ve kept that theme. It’s still an innately offensive work.

The reason I’ve taken the time to rewrite and re-introduce this novel is because it introduces the history, culture, and people of the Sultanate of Baboob, which I have come to love very deeply. I plan to be writing about Baboob for a long time.
