A rash of bank robberies in the past two days have police looking for several suspects.
The last time Honolulu had this many bank robberies was in August when convicted serial bank robber Wallace Silva got released from prison and police said he went on a crime spree.
Now there have been four bank robberies in two days, but police have only one suspect in custody.
The most recent happened at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Kapahulu branch of the Bank of Hawaii.
Just before 3 p.m., American Savings Bank at the corner of Ward and Queen’s streets was robbed, too.
The robber is described as possibly Polynesian or African American, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighing more than 200 pounds.
Police said the man got away on a blue moped.
At about noon Saturday, First Hawaiian Bank on Kailua Road was robbed also.
Police believe that robber is in his 40s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds, with dark hair and a mustache.
On Friday, American Savings Bank on Dillingham Blvd was robbed.
The suspect in that robbery is believed to be in his 50s or 60s, about 5 feet, 4 inches tall, with a medium build and gray hair.
Police said they caught the suspect in the Kapahulu Bank of Hawaii robbery from earlier Saturday. They said he was still carrying the money he got from the bank.
It is not yet known if police have linked the man to any of the other bank robberies.
