I originally published this back in January 2009 upon the eve of my departure from the United States. I was reminded of it when I met a guy in San Marino who voiced roughly the same opinions. I’d forgotten that I had taken such awesome photos of the art and as we wait for my wife’s visa to be approved so we can go back to the United States, I’m still looking for my shire. It’s not Morocco. Maybe I can find it by going home again…I hope so.

The Fully Integrated Backpacker Treehouse Resort – Kadir’s Treehouses
Sometimes it pays to drop out and go live in a treehouse!
Volubulis – Roman and Carthaginian Ruins in North Africa – Slideshow
Its been 11 years since I first visited Volubulis in Morocco back in 2009. I look forward to returning someday. Since coming to Morocco a year ago, I’ve wanted to visit the ancient Roman ruins of Volubulis. Each time I’ve planned to go, something has kept me from it, until now. Before the slideshow, I…
Buying Bitcoin Empowers You – Not the State, Not the Corporations, Not the Banks
First of all, I recognize that the state, the corporations, and the banks are really all part of the same capitalist entity. The police, armed forces, and other tools of force belong to the same entity. For the most part, the entire globe and every nation-state on it are firmly in control of capitalist forces…
Fire on the Mountain – Visiting the Ancient Chimera in Olympos, Turkey
The Chimera finally was defeated by Bellerophon, with the help of Pegasus, at the command of King Iobates of Lycia. Since Pegasus could fly, Bellerophon shot the Chimera from the air, safe from her heads and breath.
Exploring Chicago When It’s COLD!!!
In 2008, I took Amtrak across the USA. It put me in Chicago in December. Not the best time to experience the neighborhoods and things that make Chicago a great American city. The last bit of time in Chicago was okay. The Sears Tower had zero visibility and I was sort of museum weary after…
Gypsies in Granada – Surreal Real Unreal
This was a post I wrote back in early 2009 – right on the cusp of my life taking a dramatically different turn. This was one of those points where life is giving you many roads you can follow – and the one you choose will determine your entire future. I considered staying in Granada….and…
Wage Slavery and Control Systems
A huge focus of my life’s work has been identifying and rebelling against individual control systems – while this may not at first be apparent when looking at the parts of my work – when taken as a whole – the message is clear. My goal has always been that of maximizing human individual freedom….
During Possible Iran Crisis – Investors fled to the safety of Bitcoin
It was fantastic to watch a possible crisis flare up (unnecessarily) with the assassination of a government official and all that followed – thankfully, much to our surprise – calmer heads prevailed – personally, we believe that it was an investment ploy to control the direction of markets – as well as a trial balloon…
Camel Wrestling in Selcuk, Turkey
Camel Wrestling. Sounds dangerous. I didn’t know exactly what to expect when I saw it on Couchsurfing as a group activity for those near Izmir in the town of Selcuk.
