Partying with St. George – Have you been here?
St George and the Dragon are the symbols of Bergamo, Italy. When you head into Bergamo Alta you find a magical land of towers, castles, churches, and those narrow winding streets Italy is famous for. But the real reason I took this picture is because when I saw this statue in Bergamo Alta, I heard an alto voice in my head come from the statue saying “Don’t you want to party with me and my dragon?” No one else was laughing.
The Lion in Rome – Have You Been Here?
Rome captures all that is magical in the world. Traveling in Rome is like being in a strange fairy tale – complete with bedbugs. Part of the beauty of the ancient world to me lies in the use of water and fountains. The water gushing from this statue of a lion in Rome touched me in a way I can’t explain but that I think the photo captures. The starkness of the background only serves to enhance that feeling.
