Many travelers coming to China don’t expect to find such a wide range of accommodation to choose from as they would in places like Europe or the USA. In fact there are more than 100 hostels in Bejing and while that may not be as many as you would find in a city like London or Frankfurt, it still leaves the door wide open to finding a cheap, comfortable, and safe place to stay in Beijing.
One of the first places to begin looking for your hostel is in a guidebook and from friends who have traveled to Bejing in the past. It’s always best to look at the personal or professional recommendations before jumping off the deep end into the wild expanses of the internet. Another great place to look is at online hostel booking sites like Hostelworld or other multi-country hostel booking engines.
The benefits of staying in hostels while you are in Beijing are that you will have a multi-lingual staff to help you figure out what to do, you won’t break your budget paying for an expensive place to stay, and you should be able to find friends and fellow travelers to share tips and adventures with.
Beijing is a fabulous city and there are millions of great activities to keep you busy while you are there. Make sure to plan your time wisely. A few notes on hostels, make sure you find out in advance if breakfast is included, whether they have lockers (and if you need to bring your own lock), and whether they offer trips or journeys along the way. Many hostels offer fabulous discounted trips and excursions for their guests.
Have fun hosteling in Beijing!
