Istanbul – The Greatest City in the World

Wonderful IstanbulBeautiful Istanbul is the biggest city in Turkey, full of culture and history; it is no wonder why hundreds of people visit every year. Istanbul is located in the Bosphorus, one of the world’s busiest waterways, which runs between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea. The Bosphorus divides the city in half, the Anatolian side and the European side. Istanbul is full of beautiful architecture, mosques and museums which will surely amaze anyone who visits.

What to do in Istanbul?

There are many places where you could go and visit on a day out, with family or with friends. For starters, there are lots of museums, parks, restaurants and shopping centres around the city where you could go and spend the day. Here’s a list of some of the places where you could go.

Museums

  • Rahmi M Koc: It’s a museum dedicated to the history of transport, industry and communications.

  • Istanbul Archaeological Museum: Archaeological exhibitions

  • Pera Museum: Culture and history museum

  • Istanbul Modern: Contemporary arts

Parks

  • Yildiz Park: Is a historical, urban park found in the district of Be?ikta?

  • Emirgan Korusu: Is also a historical, urban park which is located in the Bosphorus

  • Bebek Park: It is a popular park located in the district of Bebek in the Bosphorus

Restaurants

  • Pinham

  • Zuzu-Café

  • Sahan

  • NUM NUM

  • Kirinti

These restaurants serve traditional dishes. Not only is the food for grown-ups to enjoy but they all also offer a kids menu.

Shopping

  • Bagdat Avenue: This is a popular shopping area located in the Anatolian side of Istanbul.

  • Forum Istanbul: This is the largest shopping centre located in the district of Bayrampasa. It is both a shopping centre and a life centre.

  • Cevahir Mall: It is a beautiful shopping centre with lots of facilities and even hosts entertainment for kids.

There are a lot of things and a lot of places to go to in Istanbul. The people are very friendly and they love to see new faces, especially tourists. They make you feel welcome and some even speak a bit of English so you should be able to understand them, if not then you can always pop in to your nearest Translation Agency  for a bit of extra help.

Sight seeing

Istanbul is known to have some of the most beautiful and wonderful architectures. The mosques alone are amazingly built with lots of wonderful colours. You could spend a day just looking at all of them. The Sultanahmet Mosque and the Yerebatan Sarnici are example of two of the wonderful architectures of Istanbul. As you go around the city, you are more than likely to encounter a place where the atmosphere and sights will take your breath away.

Two Cities in One

As we know, Istanbul is divided into two cities, one of which is known as the Anatolian side and the other as the European side. Although they are split in two, both cities offer a range of historical and cultural sites where you can visit.

Overall, Istanbul is a wonderful, cultural and beautiful place where you can learn a lot, not only through their museums but also from the people. If you want to have a change from the usual holidays you take then make Istanbul is your next holiday destination.
